Courage on Canvas

I just got back from the most wonderful art retreat, Courage on Canvas, in the charming river town of Madison, Indiana. Nestled along the Ohio River, Madison is filled with beautiful old buildings, unique shops, delicious restaurants, and some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. If you ever get the chance to visit, it’s absolutely worth the trip.

The retreat was such a gift. We spent our time painting still lifes, exploring intuitive painting, and playing with loose watercolor. It wasn’t about perfecting techniques—it was about letting go, creating freely, and allowing our own uniqueness to shine through each piece.

The event was hosted by the lovely Dionne Woods of The Turquoise Iris at The Little Golden Fox, with Kelly Wiler of Girl UPcyled as a special guest presenter. On the final day, we wrapped things up with an art show called Art in Bloom. For many of us, it was our very first time putting our work out into the world—including me! After the initial butterflies, the joy took over, and it turned into such a fun, uplifting experience. Everyone sold pieces, which gave us all such a boost of confidence and encouragement.

Here are just a few snapshots from the weekend. I’ll be sharing more of what I created (and what I came away with) over the next few weeks!
