My Quick Summer Knitting Project

Sometimes in the warmer weather, I just need a little something to cover my shoulders, especially when I am in an air conditioned space.  I decided to remedy that this year with a little linen capelet.  It is light & drapey, perfect for my needs.

I started out using the Taos Rainfall pattern by Martha Sykes.  It is well written and inexpensive.  I quickly realized that I was not paying attention to the pattern and had gone rouge!  So I just went with it, making simple eyelets every 2 or 3 rows, whatever I felt like and increasing periodically.

This is the first time I had worked with linen and it took a bit of getting used to but then it was fine.  I used Shibui Rain which I had purchased for another project that I have never started.  After giving the finished project a wash and blocking, the linen became such a wonderful material!  In fact, today I will be making a visit to my local yarn store to get more so I can make another one!

Hope you are enjoying some creating this summer and let me know if you make one of these!  I would love to see it!
