Grief Bubbles

As May approaches, I am feeling the weight of grief increasing. May is a special time here in Speedway with the Indianapolis 500 and everything associated with it. My late husband, Mark, was a lifelong race fan and May was his favorite month of the year. In 2023 he spent time at the track, we had a great time seeing old friends, attending a couple parties and going to the race itself. It was a great month. Three days after the race, he passed suddenly.

I have found that doing artwork helps me deal with it and I realized something else. This type of art is what I am drawn to when The Sadness is heavy. It started in a sketchbook, then I did some on watercolor paper and then the last one was on a canvas.

The sadness does not go away but sometimes it bubbles up and then subsides. Sometimes it is very large and looming and other times it is smalller and not as pronounced.
So during the month of May, I am going to be working a series of these "Grief Bubble" paintings. Not sure I will stick with that name but that is that is what the working title will be.
